Burn Selector Festival – Eccentric Dance

On 3 and 4 June Kraków’s Błonia will be invaded by a dance revolution. Yet in reality the Burn Selector Festival kicked off in March, with the announcement of the first headliners. The organisers are experts at building tension – it is an electronic music festival, after all.

Photomonth in Krakow 2011 – Alias

The approaching Photomonth in Krakow coincides with the height of spring. The curators of the ninth edition of the festival – the artistic pairing of Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin – have decided this year, rather than a main theme, to offer an overarching logic and strategy based on aliases.

4th Film Music Festival

Let’s imagine that the Japanese Princess Mononoke is in an encounter with our native Witcher, while the Pirates of the Caribbean fight side by side the soldiers of the Polish Home Army. From 19 to 22 May such a script will become reality. It’s time for the 4th Film Music Festival, whose plot unravels in the Nowa Huta Dream Factory – the ArcelorMittal Poland Electrolytic Tinning Plant.
2nd Czesław Miłosz Festival

The jubilee celebrations are heralded by the Festival (9 to 15 May, it carries the motto “Native Realm”) by way of allusion to the 100th anniversary of the Polish poet’s birth on 30 June and Poland’s assumption of the presidency of the Council of the European Union on 1 July.

Misteria Paschalia 2011: Reborn

Does the adjective “new” have any right to appear at an event devoted to early music? The organisers of the 8th Misteria Paschalia Festival argue that this is the ideal place for it.

Sacrum Profanum 2010: Nordic Pantheon

ArtBoom Tauron Festival

The first edition of ArtBoom was devoted to Kraków itself, but the second (11-27 June) seeks to analyse connections along an artist – work – viewer feedback loop.
Electro Rebelia – Selector Festival 2010

Will the organisers manage to raise the goalposts that they set so high a year ago? Judging by the choice of artists, this year’s test on 4-5 June will certainly result in a medal.
