Hommage à Chagall

20, 21 January; 17,18 February; 30, 31 March 2012, 7pm

It is a performance without words – created using colour, movement and music. This idea accounts for its uniqueness and the power of its poetic influence on our imagination.

The performance was inspired by the life and work of the great painter Marc Chagall and his love for his wife Bella. The director Adolf Weltschek says: Through the history of Chagall and Bella I want to share a specific love story – it is about people of flesh and blood. It is about love which acquires a metaphysical dimension. It becomes the love of Adam and Eve – a woman and a man. It is part of the cosmic order.  In defiance of the omnipresent grumbling and theories on the impossibility of the meeting and building a relationship by people, I want to tell the story of a special union between man and woman, love that is stronger than death. Following Chagall’s footsteps I want to revive the mythology of love.
